According to Apple, Leopard contains over 300 changes and enhancements, covering core operating system components as well as included applications and developer tools. Leopard introduces a significantly revised desktop, with a redesigned Dock, Stacks, a semitransparent menu bar, and an updated Finder that incorporates the Cover Flow visual navigation interface first seen in iTunes. Other notable features include support for writing 64-bit graphical user interface applications, an automated backup utility called Time Machine, support for Spotlight searches across multiple machines, and the inclusion of Front Row and Photo Booth, which were previously included with only some Mac models.

Apple missed Mac OS X v10.5%u2019s release time frame as originally announced by Apple%u2019s CEO Steve Jobs. When first discussed in June 2005, Jobs had stated that Apple intended to release Leopard at the end of 2006 or early 2007. A year later, this was amended to Spring 2007; however on 12 April 2007, Apple issued a statement that its release would be delayed until October 2007 because of the development of the iPhone.

1. In Disk Utility, drag the disk image you want to use to the Disk Utility window if the disk image doesn't appear in the list.
2. Select the disk image and click Burn.
3. Insert a recordable CD or DVD disc into the optical drive of your computer and follow the onscreen instructions.

iii. Reboot with your newly burned Leopard disk in the disk drive, then hold the 'C' key whilst your machine is booting up.

* so, chucked that one in the bin
* burned another one at Lowest Speed (from within Disk Utility), and that one works (ie. it mounts)

I'm currently using 10.4.11 on an iMac 2Ghz 20".

Since I don't have a superDrive (my iBook g4 has only DVD/CD-RW), i just installed from a Sanddisk cruzer 16GB USB 2.0 disk and it installs fine. selected a clean/fresh install and disabled additional languages and printer drivers.
