Narrated by the late Mary Alice Young, Desperate Housewives takes viewers inside Wisteria Lane, a small section of suburban America that's anything but ordinary. This primetime soap delves deep into the lives of a circle of women with a mix dark humor and drama that helps expose the truth that things are never as they seem.

The tale of these women started with the death of one of their own, Mary Alice Young (Brenda Strong). Even though she is a resident of Wisteria no longer, she guides us through the daily lives of her close friends, family and neighbors from her unique and all-seeing point of view.

The women of Wisteria include Susan Mayer (Teri Hatcher), a single mother and divorcee, struggling to raise her teenaged daughter, Julie (Andrea Bowen), all while going to extreme lengths to find the man of her dreams, who may be her neighbor, Mike Delfino (James Denton). Lynette Scavo (Felicity Huffman) is a mother four who is dealing with the change of going from a stay-at-home mom to a career woman as she helps her husband Tom (Doug Savant) open their own pizzeria. Bree Van De Kamp (Marcia Cross), the quintessential Martha Stewart-esque housewife, presents a calm and collected exterior, but is dealing with the pain of losing her husband, Rex (Steven Culp), the challenge of raising two rebellious children, Danielle (Joy Lauren) and Andrew (Shawn Pyfrom), and her second marriage to the mysterious Orson Hodge (Kyle MacLachlan). Gabrielle Solis (Eva Longoria) had it all -- a successful modeling career, an equally successful husband, Carlos (Ricardo Antonio Chavira) and a large house -- but with the end of her marriage, Gabrielle must learn how to make it on her own. Lastly Edie Britt (Nicollette Sheridan), the self made successful real estate agent whose love life is at the top of everyone's gossip list.

Wiseria Lane has experienced it's share of mysterious comings and goings. From the Applewhite family, including Betty (Alfre Woodard) and Matthew (Mehcad Brooks) who wasted no time in getting tangled up in the drama of Wisteria, to the family Mary Alice left behind: Paul (Mark Moses) and Zach (Cody Kasch).

With Mary Alice watching over her former neighbors' every move, no bit of juicy gossip goes unnoticed, despite how the residents try their hardest to keep it locked behind closed doors.

Nice is Different Than Good

Mike Delfino's bride will finally be revealed: will it be Katherine, or will it be Susan? Lynette faces the reality of another pregnancy, whereas Bree struggles to break free from Orson and her inhibitions. In the meantime, Gabrielle is put to the test by Carlos' teenaged niece, now in their care, and a new family with a dark past moves to Wisteria Lane.

Bree considers wether she should go away for the weekend with her lover, and a chance encounter reunites the Solis family with Gabrielle's former lover, John Rowland (former main castmember Jesse Metcalfe).

Bree gets defensive when she?s judged by a motel maid for having an affair with Karl Mayer, and Lynette is put off by her new handyman when he defers to Tom for approval on all things, whereas Susan and Katherine come to blows over Mike. Meanwhile, a lapse in judgment on Danny?s part leads to a terrible mishap that Angie and Nick must cover up.

Don't Walk on the Grass

Lynette comes home to find Tom with some of his (younger) fellow college students. Later, she arrives at a frat party in hopes of finding Tom. She doesn't find her husband, but does learn that Tom's cheating in school.
Orson learns Bree lied about where a cameo pin came from. Bree's falling in love with Karl.
Angie won't reveal the truth about her mother.
When Juanita swears at school, the principal wants her pulled from the Thanksgiving pageant. Gabrielle's protests lead to Juanita getting kicked out of school.
Katherine attempts to seduce Mike.

Careful the Things You Say

Bree pretends to be Italian-American so an Italian couple will hire her to cater their anniversary party. Later, Bree and Orson reluctantly attend dinner at the Bolen home.
Gabrielle's having trouble homeschooling Juanita, particularly with math. She gets help from an unlikely source: the Solis's Eastern European maid, who turns out to have a Ph.D.. Gabrielle turns to the maid for help but she's not eager to clean while the maid works with Juanita.
Susan believes Katherine was responsible for strangling Julie, but she's frustrated because the police have given up. A police officer (Kathy Najimy) offers assistance, but it turns out she and Susan went to high school together, and Susan stole the officer's guy back then. The officer finds out about Susan shooting Katherine and arrests her for not reporting it.
Lynette has her own suspicions about Julie's attacker, as she learns of Nick's affair with Julie and warns him to stay away from Julie. Angie confronts Nick about his secret.

The Coffee Cup


Susan is sentenced to community service as a punishment for shooting Katherine. Specifically, she'll be picking up trash. Susan discovers a connection between Mike and Katherine and begins questioning her marriage to Mike as a result.
Despite Bree's efforts to hide the truth about her affair, someone discovers the truth: Angie.
Gabrielle will stop at nothing to get Juanita into Catholic school.
Julie's friend Emily (Julie McNiven) is interested in Angie's husband, Nick. Julie tries to warn her that Nick is dangerous, but she does not listen. The episode includes another strangulation victim -- but will this one be killed?
Lynette's pregnancy becomes impossible to hide as Gabby finds out. A man who works with Lynette is being transferred to Miami, but the Scavos have him and his pregnant wife over to dinner in hopes of stopping them from leaving.
