Boobs in arms (1940)





In this Stooge short, the boys are greeting card salesmen who try to help a wife by posing as her lovers. When her husband comes home, he sees the Stooges and chases them outside, where they hide in a line of people. Unfortunately for them, it's a line to sign up for the Army!!!

To make matters worse, their commanding officer is the jealous husband who they ran away from. While in training, they march in the opposite direction than their supposed to, run away from the husband, hide in bayonett practice dummies, and their commanding officer does bayonett practice on them! Then, when their on the battlefield, they accidentally give themselves a dose of laughing gas and get captured by the enemy. They make a mess of the enemey's headquarters (while still on lauging gas), get bombed by their side, and ride off into the clouds on a bomb

Beer and pretzels

Healy and the Stooges are thrown out of the Happy Hour Theatre because of Ted's woman chasing. He promises to straighten out and give up women, but his promise doesn't last very long. The boys get jobs as waiters at a restaurant, but of course they manage to wreck the place and thrown out again. Healy promises to give up women for good, but then sees a beautiful woman turning up her stockings. He tries to work his charm on her, but she turns out to be an undercover policeman!

A duckling we will go (1939)

After unsuccessfully stealing a watermelon, the Stooges get jobs as salesmen for the Canvas Back Duck Club and end up selling phony memberships to the Mayor and the entire Police Department. When they discover that there are no ducks at the Duck Club, Curly steals a flock of domesticated ducks and the laughs really start.

Men in black (1934)

The trio play med school graduates whose only credentials are that they had the highest temperatures in their class. They are hired as doctors at the "Los Arms Hospital" only because they have been in their senior class for too many years.
The new graduates at the hospital are warned by the superintendent that three of them (the Stooges) are "not overly bright," but that their identities will be concealed as long as they promise to devote their lives to "the glorious cause of duty and humanity." The short consists of a series of skits in which the Stooges go from one patient to the next, making mistakes ranging from drinking a patient's medicine to sewing their tools inside a man on the operating table.

Nutty but nice (1940)

The Stooges, dressed as overgrown little girls replete with blonde sausage curls, try unsuccessfully to cheer her up. Undaunted, they volunteer to find the girl's father. The doctor give the trio some data:

* 5 ft, 10 inches in his stocking feet
* tattoo on his shoulder
* bald spot
* likes to yodel to his daughter.

The Stooges waste no time hitting the pavement in search for the father. They stop nearly every middle-aged male on the street under six feet tall, barraging each and every one with questions. Suddenly, Curly starts yodeling, and hears a response ? from a radio that Butch (one of the mobsters) switched on; Butch (Cy Schindell) has the little girl's father tied to a bed. They decide to see if her father is there. They manage to knock out Butch and free the little girl's father by sliding the bed frame off of the handcuffs. Of course, the bed frame lands on Moe's foot, causing him to hop in pain, leading to Curly and Larry partaking in a Cossack dance.

Rockin' thru the rockies (1945)

Since Curly scared off the horses earlier, the group are stuck there for the night. Unfortunately, snow falls while they asleep. They awake to discover a bear has devoured their food supply, so the three hapless guides try unsuccessfully to catch some fish in a nearby frozen lake. The fishing expedition is interrupted by Nell (Kathryn Sheldon), who discovers the Belles ? Lorna Gray, Dorothy Appleby and Linda Winters ? have been kidnapped by the Indians. The Belles manage to escape, and the troupe leaves the Indians' land quickly.

Phony express (1943)


The sheriff of Peaceful Gulch places a picture of the Stooges in the paper, claiming they are famous marshalls coming to rid the little town of its criminals. Despite this, the boys are almost chased out of the town after nearly poisoning the ill sheriff (Snub Pollard) who is suffering from lumbago.
The sheriff finally puts them in charge of guarding the bank, which gets robbed while their backs are turned. To avoid being hanged, the Stooges search the area, with Curly in bloodhound mode. The Stooges eventually discover the stolen money, but not before almost being discovered by the main outlaw, Red (Bud Jamison).

Shivering sherlocks (1948)

An armored car has been robbed, and a patrolman discovers the Stooges hiding in a garbage can nearby. They are taken to the police station and interrogated, but their friend Gladys Harmon (Christine McIntyre), the kind owner of the Elite Cafe, vouches for the boys.The next day the Stooges go to thank Gladys, and when they discover she is having problems with the restaurant they volunteer to work for free. The Stooges are later questioned by Captain Mullens (Vernon Dent) who pulls out a mug shot photo of "Lefty" Loomis (Kenneth MacDonald) whom the Stooges recognize as the ringleader of the armored car robbers.

Spook louder (1943)

Told in flashback by a professor in an interview with a newspaper reporter, this is the story of The Stooges as traveling salesmen trying their best to sell their "Miracle Reducing Machine," which essentially shakes and rattles off the pounds (as Curly's demonstrates). As luck would have it, the boys stumble on the home of Graves the inventor (Ted Lorch), who assumed the Stooges are the new caretakers.

The ghost talks (1949)

The Stooges are moving men assigned to the haunted Smorgasbord Castle.
All goes well until a clanking suit of armor inhabited by the ghost of Peeping Tom (voiced by Phil Arnold) instructs the Stooges to leave him be. Shemp, Larry and Moe all take turns trying to move Tom but he spooks the Stooges away. After finally gaining their trust, Tom tells the trio the story of how he is waiting for Lady Godiva.

Tassels in the air(1938)

The Stooges are inept janitors who stencil the wrong occupation names on the doors of their office building. As a result, their janitors' room is labeled as belonging to Omay, a famous interior decorator. Mrs. Smirch (Bess Flowers), who wants to hire Omay to redecorate her house, mistakes Moe for the real Omay. The Stooges agree to do the job and proceed to make a mess of Mrs. Smirch's house.

Sock a-bye baby (1942)

The Stooges awake in the middle of the night to a crying baby left on their doorstep. A letter from the despondent mother (Julie Gibson) states that baby Jimmie (Joyce Gardner) has been abandoned. The Stooges react by taking the little guy in, feeding him, and trying their best to act fatherly.

Slippery silks (1936)

The Stooges are carpenters hired to duplicate a priceless antique Chinese cabinet on loan for a $50,000 bond from a local museum to a Mr. Morgan (Vernon Dent). The Stooges naturally destroy the valuable cabinet, so they go on the run from Morgan. Meanwhile, the Stooges inherit a fancy dress boutique, the "Madame de France," from their recently deceased Uncle Pete.

Mummy's dummies (1948)

The Stooges are used chariot salesmen in Ancient Egypt. They swindle Rhadames, the captain of the royal guard (Ralph Dunn) and he has them arrested. They appear before the king, King Rootentootin (Vernon Dent) for a brief trial. He asks, "Who are these sand fleas?" before sentencing the stooges to be fed to the crocodiles. Here Moe notices the King's is suffering from a terrible toothache, and Shemp is instructed, with death as the price of failure, to pull the King's tooth.

A pain in the pullman (1936)

The Stooges are out-of-work hoofers with a pet monkey act who get a chance at a show if they can make it to the train on time. In a rush to evade paying rent, the boys board the train. The monkey gets loose and wreaks havoc on the train, becoming a pain in the neck for Johnson, the show's manager, and the show's star, Paul Pain. The boys also cause a panic in the sleeping car looking for the monkey, and end up being thrown off the train.

Malice in the palace (1949)

The Stooges, while running the Cafe Casbah Bah (a Middle Eastern restaurant) and attempting to prepare a meal for customers Hassan Ben Sober (Vernon Dent) and Gin-A Rummy (George J. Lewis), discover a plan that their hungry customers are hatching. These two thieves are attempting to rob the tomb of Rootentooten, which contains a priceless diamond, but they discover that the Emir of Schmow (Johnny Kascier) has already gotten his hands on the diamond. The two plotters start wailing and are thrown out of the restaurant. The Stooges then attempt to retrieve the diamond themselves, as there is a $50,000 reward at stake.

Hokus Pokus (1949)

The Stooges are three paperhangers who also look after invalid Mary (Mary Ainslee), who is confined to a wheelchair. The seemingly helpless blonde, however, is trying to swindle her insurance company out of $25,000, as she is not handicapped in the least. While the Stooges are at work hanging posters, they are taken by one poster that advertises a great hypnotist, Svengarlic ("He'll steal your breath away!" the poster announces).

Back to the woods

Set in colonial times, the Stooges are convicted criminals who are banished from England to the American colonies.
When they arrive (and after a dancing fling with the governor?s daughters), they find that the colonists are starving because the local Indians will not let them use their hunting grounds without a fee of 5,000 shekels. A down payment was made, but it was not enough. The Stooges decide to go hunting anyway to help out the colony.

Fright night (1947)

The Stooges are managers of a beefy boxer named Chopper Kane (~censored~ Wessel), and they bet their bank roll on his next fight. When a gangster (Tiny Brauer) tells them to have Chopper lose or they will lose their lives, the boys decide to play along.

They try to soften Chopper up by feeding him rich food and having him spend time with their friend Kitty (Claire Carleton). The fight gets canceled when Kitty dumps Chopper for his opponent and the two boxers engage in some pre-match fisticuffs that result in a broken hand for the opponent. The Stooges think they have put one over on the gangsters, only to have the bad guys corner them in a deserted warehouse. Instead of being rubbed out, the boys capture the crooks and get a reward

Loco boy makes good (1942)

At the beginning of the film, the owner of an apartment complex (Bud Jamison) throws the Stooges out because they are eight months behind on their rent. The owner threatens to keep them out for good until they can pay it off. Sitting on the curb of a sidewalk, they discover a headline in a newspaper that describes how a man who slipped on a bar of soap and got money when he sued the owner of the building in which the man slipped on the soap.
The Stooges decide that this is how they will get the money to pay off their rent. As they go back into the apartments, the owner shows up at the door, so the Stooges run away. As they are running away, Curly discovers a bar of soap, and immediately take it somewhere so that they can get money, like how the man in the newspaper headline did. The Stooges decide to go into a hotel to slip on the soap. After several unsuccessful attempts to slip on the soap, the Stooges discover that the hotel is in serious trouble moneywise. The Stooges decide to help out, after they discover that a man, Mr. Scroggins, is threatening to take over the hotel unless they pay what they owe. In the process, Curly recovers $52 that the owner gave to Mr. Scroggins, and his watch. The money's enough so that the Stooges can refurnish the hotel.

I'll never hail again (1941)

I'll Never Heil Again follows much the same pattern as You Nazty Spy!. It opens at the estate of King Herman the 6 7/8s, the deposed king of Moronica. Ixnay, Amscray and Umpchay, the war profiteers from the first film (although Umpchay was called "Onay" there) have decided that they have had enough of the dictator they put in power, and want to help Herman retake the throne.
To this end, he sends his daughter, the princess Glinda (Matty Herring in the first film) to try and assassinate Hailstone using an explosive pool ball strategically positioned in Hailstone's billiard table. Dictator Moe Hailstone of Moronica enjoys a shave, and fights Curly and Larry for a turkey (that is a parody of Hitler possibly wanting control in Turkey. Larry parodies the attempts to control Greece by saying, "I'll mop up grease.") The winner of that battle is a picture of Napoleon who grabs the bird from the bewildered Stooges. Glinda enters, and starts to place in Moe's mind the idea that his allies, the "Axle" partners, are plotting against him.
